Manu Garba – Head Coach, Nigeria

“I feel elated and great. I was part of the team that won the same competition in 1983 as a player and I’m happy to win it as a coach. The difference is the goal of the tournament which was scored by number 7, Bernard Bulbwa. This team is the future of Nigerian football. We have only two players from the Nigeria Premier League with the rest from academies, which is a good sign for the development of Nigerian football”.

Musa Mohamed – Captain, Nigeria

“We are happy with our performance as champions. From the beginning, we promised ourselves not just the ticket for the FIFA U-20 World Cup, but to qualify as African champions. We are happy to achieve both. We played a more compact game based on the tactics of the coach since it was a final match”.

Joseph Koto – Head Coach, Senegal

“I thank the Senegal Football Federation, the public and my family for the support shown the team throughout the tournament. I’m very satisfied with the performance of my team. They played very well and were exceptional. From the start till the end, our presence was felt. We fluffed a lot of goal scoring opportunities. Our performance showed that Nigeria is not superior to us and I believe we won’t disgrace ourselves at the FIFA U-20 World Cup. We give the players about 10-days rest and after begin preparations for the FIFA U-20 World Cup. I have submitted my programme to the Senegal Football Federation and it is important we prepare very well for a competition such as the World Cup”.

Roger Gomis – Captain, Senegal

“I’m proud of our performance and I congratulate the playing body for our achievement. We are grateful to the fans for the huge support throughout the competition, we really appreciate it. There is more room for improvement with the FIFA U-20 World Cup ahead”.
