In a thrilling CAF U-17 championship Group ‘B’ berth at the Stade Municipal, South Africa and Mali drew 2-2 as both sides kept their hopes alive of reaching the last four.
Mali’s Sidiki Maiga gave his team the lead in the 18th minute goal that separated the two sides at half-time.
Boubacar Traore scored a superb volley on the hour mark as Mali looked set to collect all three points. However South Africa -who let go a two-goal lead in their previous game against defending champions Ivory Coast – made a fantastic come-back of their own when substitute Luvuyo Mkatshana pulled one back with 16 minutes remaining and six minutes later Katlego Mohame hammered home the equalizer.
The draw left Amajimbos on two points from two games while Mali gained four equally.
