Just days after the finals of the 30th edition of the Orange CAF African Nations’ Cup, Equatorial Guinea 2015, a festival of the Continent’s emerging talents from eight qualified nations would be showcased as the CAF Orange U-17 championship kicks – off in Niamey on Sunday with the Niger, the host taking on holders and FIFA World Cup record winners Nigeria after which Zambia will play against Guinea as openers in Group A.
Monday 16 February will see the Amajimbos (South Africa) take on the defending champions Baby Elephants (Ivory Coast). Mali and Cameroon will be out for the second match at the Municipal.
Nigeria, the most successful team in the world at this level, will be fighting to win the title for a record third time having won the FIFA U-17 championship four times and the African championship twice.
The Baby Elephants of Ivory Coast will attempt to defend their title in the same way as their seniors in winning it for a second time. The defending Champions will commence their campaign against South African on day two.
New-comers Zambia and Niger may be weighing their options against the other participating teams to show their worth and flex their muscles for a semi-final spot the reward of which will be spot come in the FIFA World Cup in Chile.
