Algeria registered their first win of the Tournament by beating Mali 2-0 on Wednesday in their Group B clash at the Stade Caroline Faye, M’bour. Zinedine Ferhat scored half-way into the second half before an own goal by Youssouf Traore in the closing stages secured victory for the Algerians with four points. Nigeria with three points play Egypt later. Mali remains at the bottom pointless.
Mali had much of possession but it was Algerians’ tactically discipline that earned them the goals in the second half.
Mali will play for glory against Egypt on Saturday before the pack out of the Tournament.
