The news of the solemn and untimely death of Coach Lamin Sarr has just been received with utmost grief.
Lamin Sarr was born in Brikama in the then Western Division. After completing his secondary education, he joined The Gambia Police Force where he served for so many years. Equally so, he played football for his native town but notably for “Justice FC”. He was an outstanding footballer with tremendous skills.
After completing a lengthy period of service as a Police Officer, he was employed as a Regional Coach in The Gambia Football Association and posted to many regions in the Country.
Coach Sarr attended so many CAF and FIFA courses in Coaching and was certified as a CAF Instructor in Coaching. He instructed many local coaching courses organised by both The GFA and The Gambia Football Coaches’ Association in which he was a very active Member. He served as Coach and Assistant Coach to The Gambia National teams over the years.
Coach Lamin Sarr was a very determined Coach who pursued his ambitions with diligence and would be remembered for his patience and intimate character. His death is a great to loss to his noble profession and Gambian football in general.
