Former Gambian Sports Minister and Career Diplomat, Momodou Lamin Kaba Bajo was elected as President of The Gambia Football Federation at the Extraordinary General Assembly held on September 20, 2014.
Out of the 51 votes cast, Bajo won 28 whilst his opponent Buba Bojang got 23 votes. It is highly hoped that Mr. Bajo’s election would pave the way for the lifting of the two- year ban imposed on The Gambia when the country was suspended for “falsifying the ages of players” of its U-17 National team. The lifting of the ban will be discussed when FIFA Executive Committee meets next week.
WAFU West A congratulates the President – elect and his Executive Committee and welcomes them in the Regional Football Family.
