On Saturday December 6, 2014 the Senegalese Professional League finally kicked-off after a long delay. In Dakar, Niary Talli (NGB) defeated Diaraf by 3 goals to 1. Coach Lamine Dieng expressed his satisfaction for winning his first match thus all three points but admitted “that much work needs to be done” since the season is long and tough. Amara Traore, Head Coach of Diaraf highlighted some lackluster defending but overall he was happy with the performance of his players. He equally expressed that his team must work hard to impact positively on other teams in the League.
In an interview with journalists, the President of the Professional League, Mr. Saer Seck attributed the late start of the League to three constraints namely: the CAN 2015 qualifying matches against Egypt and Botswana, preparations for the Orange African U-20 Championship, Senegal 2015 and administrative issues like the players’ licenses. He finally acknowledged that all these issues have been overcome and the League promises to be very competitive this season 2014 – 15.
