The Gambia Football Federation held its Extraordinary General Assembly on Saturday September 20, 2014 at the Paradise Suites Hotel thus ending a three-month Normalisation process. It could be recalled that FIFA dissolved the previous Executive Committee when CAF banned The Gambia from all competitions for two years for fielding three unqualified players against Liberia in the qualifiers of the CAF U-17 tournament, Senegal 2015.
FIFA instituted a Normalisation Committee headed by Hon. Alhaji Sillah (Coach) that took over the day – day administration of Gambian Football and also organised an elective assembly that ushered in a new Executive Committee. Two Candidates Mr. Buba Bai Bojang and Lamin Kaba Bajo vied for the Presidency – the only position voted for since the other candidates for the Vice Presidential and other positions withdrew their candidatures. Hon. Bajo won by 28 votes to Mr. Bojang’s 25. The composition of the New Executive Committee is;
1. Lamin Kaba Bajo – President2. Abdoulie Jallow (Star) – 1st Vice President (unopposed) 3. Ebou Faye _ 2nd Vice President (unopposed) 4. Martin Gomez – 3rd Vice President (unopposed) 5. Alhaji Faye – Member (unopposed) 6. Adama Lowe (unopposed) 7. Sainabou Cham (unopposed) 8. Mam Lisa Camara (unopposed) 9. Seven Presidents of the Regional Associations In his acceptance speech, President-elect Bajo called for unity and commitment in the football family in the best interest of our country and our game. The President of WAFU Zone A, Maitre Augustin Senghor was mandated by CAF and FIFA to attend and monitor this elective Assembly but due to flight problems, he could not attend. The WAFU General Secretary , Mr. Jammeh E.K. Bojang attended the whole proceedings.
