March 27, 2017 – The General Secretary, West Zone A called the meeting to order at 11:00 hrs. Firstly, he apologized to the long silence on the part of his Zonal Union for the lack of requisite information to the LOC over the weeks. He attributed this to FOX’s adherence to its compliance policy. He expressed his delight with the success registered so far – though he admitted that we must make up for the time lost with only days to the commencement of the Tournament.
He explained that the meeting was organised to inform the LOC about the modalities thus far. The Members were informed that FOX have paid all the hotels (Novotel for the team delegations), Ndiambour hotel (Match officials) and Hertz car rental devices (team buses, mini buses for match officials and cars for officials). He told members that FOX entered into a contract with Air Côte d’Ivoire as the official carrier of all delegations and that Mr. Aka Malan is currently in Abidjan working with them to ensure that all tickets are sent to all delegates today. Barry Lambert will request HRG to issue tickets to delegates from other countries not covered by Air Côte d’Ivoire. Chairperson informed the LOC that their budget was closely scrutinized and the total sum will be paid into the West Zone A account at the ECOBANK Dakar and that payments can only be effected if President Senghor returns to Senegal on March 29.
Barry Lambert further buttressed the issue of the electric bulbs for the floodlights at the Stade Demba DIOP that he said 20 bulbs were bought in South Africa and will be delivered to the Stadium Manager as soon as they arrive.
The meeting -because of time constraint – scrutinized the match-ticket design and urged the LOC to print and distribute these as soon as possible so that we can have a full house on both match days.
Members were informed about the arrangements with RTS to broadcast all the matches live on FOX Sports channels. Chairperson explained that because the 2stv is on SD, FOX preferred RTS for now because it has all its equipment on HD.
The meeting agreed to embark on a media campaign to inform the public about the Tournament and were to collect the Match tickets (free).
General Secretary, Senegalese Football Federtion Mr. Victor Cissé intervened to ask for the Prices for the Tournament. He showed the meeting a letter from US Gorée asking for the Prices involved. He also confirmed an email from AS Tanda on what financial benefits are to be gained from the Tournament. Not to derail the essence of the West Zone Challenge Cup, we confirmed that there would be Prices offered.
With all the necessary information given, the Chairperson of the LOC Mr. Amadou Kane urged all sub-committees of the LOC to start work effectively from today and to have daily coordinating meetings in order to deliver a very successful Tournament. He called up a meeting for Tomorrow Tuesday at 15:00hrs at the SFF Secretariat.
The meeting was adjourned sine die.
